During the 3rd General Assembly in Madrid, SOLARX partners shared insights into their contributions to the project. This time, we would like to introduce Desideri Regany, who is playing a key role in WP2 as a doctoral researcher in Solar Energy Systems at the Universitat de Lleida (UdL).
The UdL team brings strong expertise in concentrated photovoltaics (CPV) and thermal management technologies. In addition to coordinating the project, UdL’s main responsibilities—carried out in close collaboration with CNRS—include the design, development and testing of the advanced CPV receiver. This work encompasses the development of the complete CPV receiver architecture, ensuring both thermal efficiency and electrical compatibility for successful integration with the TCVC multijunction cells fabricated by the partner from Sherbrooke.
Desideri Regany is actively involved in the design, manufacturing and experimental validation of the CPV receiver. Together with Alicia Crespo, he contributed to the integration of CFD and thermo-electrical simulations that were used to define the optimal internal cooling geometry. He has been driving the development of the receiver, from conceptualization and electrical integration to fabrication and testing. The experimental tests will be conducted on-sun using a newly installed 10 m² parabolic dish concentrator at the UdL rooftop lab, capable of reaching up to 1000 kW/m² of solar concentration to assess the receiver’s performance under real operating conditions. Desideri is also one of the three inventors of a patent application filed by UdL, which protects the novel receiver design and its integration with DC/DC converters—one of the key outcomes of Deliverable D2.6.
